Numerous studies have shown that antioxidant nutrients are true allies in the health of seniors. They are somehow the key to longevity. What then are the food, plants and spices to eat to enjoy this virtue?

Consuming foods antioxidants to fight free radicals

The antioxidant foods provide the body with the elements that help fight the free radicals generated by the use of oxygen. This can damage cells and cause premature aging of the skin, not to mention the chronic diseases that may result. Vitamins A, C and E, minerals such as zinc, coenzyme Q10 and lycopene content in certain foods, spices and plants prevent the development or formation of free radicals.

We encounter every day in our food plates including antioxidants such as vitamin C enclosed by red fruits and citrus, and vitamin E present in vegetable oils. Whole grains and fish provide us with zinc. Tomatoes, carrots, red and yellow fruits carotenoids provide to our organization. Some fruits and vegetables are however more antioxidants than others.

To slow down the aging of cells, choose the consumption of garlic, Brussels sprouts, kale, spinach, beetroot, onion, red pepper and broccoli. Often eat dessert plums, prunes, red grapes, blackberries, strawberries, cherries, raspberries and kiwis. Also operate all gate receipts including the pink grapefruit. As for plants, know as ginseng, ginkgo tea and biloda are the most antioxidants.

Some spices such as nutmeg, turmeric, vanilla, ginger and black pepper have similar virtues. Do not hesitate to use them to bring a special flavor to your cooking and at the same time to fight against free radicals. Although these foods, these plants and spices are beneficial to health, it is essential to eat a balanced and varied diet to ensure their effectiveness. To combat premature aging, allow them regularly on the menu without neglecting other foods.
